Discover Tuwu Nukhada

Our
Inspiration

This idea started with the dream of a woman from South Nias to elevate and preserve Nias culture. Now that dream has come true and is starting to be built by the woman and her two daughters.

Tuwu means lifting, where the word Tuwu was first used by the creator of a typical Nias songket inspired by the Nias traditional house, namely "Lawa-lawa" from omo hada. Where when the lawa-lawa is dituwu or lifted, sunlight enters the house and lights up all the rooms in the house. The meaning of Tuwu philosophy is to uplift and enlighten, we use that as our guide for Tuwu Nukhada. We want to highlight and illuminate the traditions and culture of Nias which is still remote. Tuwu describes our vision and mission and will provide color for traditional Nias fabrics.

TUWU NUKHADA has the philosophical meaning of "Lifting Nias Culture from Cloth". We used this name because it perfectly describes our main goal. We want to preserve the history and culture of Nias' ancestors as art that is put into usable fabric. These cloths have a very deep meaning and meaning because we pour all the customs, culture and art of our ancestors into these cloths.

We hope that with this work, Nias culture will become better known and our cultural values, which have deep significance and significance, can be introduced to people throughout Indonesia and throughout the world. Vision
and
Mission

TUWU means: Lift/Support/Support

NUKHADA means: Our Cloth/Clothing

In terms of using this word we can give a very clear meaning of our goal  to highlight Nias customs and culture in the form of cloth. We also want to preserve the traditional arts, customs and culture of the Nias tribe in the form of tenun, songket, batik and ethnic jewelry accessories. Indonesia has a lot of culture whether it is well known or it is hidden. Nias is one example. Nias is an exotic hidden culture tucked away in north sumatera. So we have made this our goal to build this brand so everybody hears about our island and it’s rich culture.
